History of Wine

Wine is an alcohol obtained by fermenting grapes and has been considered a prestigious beverage throughout history. France, Italy, Spain and the USA are among the world’s most important wine producers. Wine, which comes in varieties such as red, white, rosé and sparkling, has a large fan base with its harmony with food and different aromas.

History of Wine

The history of wine dates back approximately 8,000 years to the South Caucasus region (present-day Georgia). Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used wine frequently in religious rituals and daily life. In the Middle Ages, monasteries continued wine production and developed their techniques. Today, wine is a beverage enjoyed and consumed by millions of people around the world.

Most Preferred Wine Types

Red Wine: Produced from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah. It is full-bodied, tannic and intensely aromatic.

White Wine: Made from grapes such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. It has a refreshing, fruity and acidic structure.

Rose Wine: Produced from red grapes through short-term fermentation. It is light, fruity and soft to drink.

Sparkling Wine: Wines such as Champagne, Prosecco and Cava fall into this category. It is indispensable for celebrations with its fizzy structure.
